I just popped open my copy of Tabatha Coffey’s new book, It’s Not Really About The Hair and I must say I was very pleased with it. Its a memoir from the famed reality tv personality and hairstylist but don’t expect too many hair tips.
She tells the honest truth about life, love and the business of beauty in this 212 page book. I found it to be easy to read. It also touched me when I read that she dedicated her book to her mom who passed away of cancer not too long ago.

Ella le dice la verdad sincera acerca de la vida, el amor y el negocio de la belleza en este libro, página 212. Me pareció que para ser fácil de leer. También me conmovió cuando leí que dedicó su libro a su madre que falleció de cáncer no hace mucho tiempo.

In the introduction she talks about her life growing up in a non traditional home. Her parents owned a few transgendered strip clubs in Adelaide,Australia. She saw a lot growing up being around that type of atmosphere. She was a chubby cute kid which she shows pics of herself and her many hairdos throughout the years. She talked about her dad leaving their family, working in England and more. She then talks about how she grew tough skin especially after always being teased for looking different. She overcame her obesity by working out and living a more healthier lifestyle. She dropped out of high school at 15 and finished by going to night school. Then moved to England where she took her passion for doing hair at the strip clubs back home in Australia and made a career out of it. She talked about her first date with a girl and coming out to her mom who didn’t like it one bit. Tabatha shared stories on working at her first salon,working for Vidal Sassoon,opening her own salon and more .
