Tabatha Coffey was having a remarkable Wednesday until she learned the devastating news that hairstyling pioneer Vidal Sassoon, who played a key role in Tabatha's professional ascent, had died at the age of 84.

Coffey, who was raised in the hairstyling business, trained at the Vidal Sassoon Academy early on in her career.
Just before the news of Sassoon's death broke, Coffey tweeted about how well her day was going, saying that she "may have had the most extraordinary day ever." Just minutes later though, she reflected on the loss of her friend: "My great day turned into a devastating day RIP Vidal Sassoon thank you for all you have done for our industry and for me."
