We all know Tabatha Coffey, Bravo’s sharp-tongued Aussie style pro, from her stint on Shear Genius and her latest hit, Tabatha Takes Over. And now, she’s bringing her talents online, joining us at PEOPLE StyleWatch once weekly to dish on some of the best – and worst – celebrity looks of the week. Keep in mind the opinions below belong solely to the stylist … though she’s probably saying what lots of you are thinking, anyway!

At first glance I thought your dress was a chintzy camo print and I immediately was like, “Oh cam-no!,” but now that I look more closely I’m thinking it could be leopard. Actually it doesn’t really matter because it just isn’t working for me. And neither is that length. I think this high-low mullet trend needs to take a break — a very, very long break. Speaking of length, Kat, it looks like you forgot your pants.

'Tabatha Takes Over' Finale: Music Columnist-Turned-Innkeeper Describes the Experience (4/3/2012)

"She was the boss of the world," Dianne Bennett says of the Bravo series' star Tabatha Coffey.

This season, Tabatha Coffey expanded her Bravo series, Tabatha Takes Over, beyond hair salons to all types of businesses. And on the finale, she tackles a suffering inn owner, a former music columnist who wasn’t enthused by the average people who ended up staying at her West Hollywood home-turned-bed and breakfast, Cinema Suites.

“That’s another misunderstanding that an entrepreneur would have is to find your client,” Dianne Bennett tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Who is your customer? So she helped me focus in on a broader reach, rather than just going after the arty types. It’s called business.”

THR spoke to the former music columnist, who incidentally wrote for THR in the '80s and '90s, about the experience of being taken over by Coffey and what she learned.

The Hollywood Reporter: What was the state of your business when Tabatha arrived?

Dianne Bennett: I was highly disorganized. I’m a high-concept person, very entrepreneurial, not into the details... If you know about entrepreneurs, that’s pretty common.

THR: Even though you had given up writing about music, you were still quite tuned in to the social aspects of the industry. What was that about?

Bennett: Well, yes. Trying to live two lives and have them both be efficient is oftentimes problematic. So what she did is reined me in and made me concentrate on my income rather than my nightlife. I saw my bed and breakfast as social in a way. I was into the fun part of it, meeting groovy people, lifestyle. But she forced me to look at the business side of it, running things efficiently, giving direction to my staff, and focusing in on that. I’m not nearly as social as I used to be before Tabatha. I think she told me I couldn’t go out for a number of months and that I had to stay home and take care of business

 THR: What were your first impressions of Tabatha?

Bennett: That Tabatha was going to take over, in capital letters, no arguing there. She was the boss of the world. It’s hard. Again, even when you run a business, and you’re not doing it correctly, and you know you’re not, it’s your comfort level. That’s what she does. She pries you out of your bad habits.

THR: ¿Cuáles fueron tus primeras impresiones de Tabatha?

THR: You were a tough nut to crack. How ready were you for Tabatha’s visit?

Bennett: I was ready for Tabatha. By the name of the show alone, you understand that it’s going to be her way. So, I was ready for that. But I can be obstinate, bossy, my way or the highway, and I knew that she was going to improve my business, therefore my income. So I had accepted that she was going to literally take over and we were going to be doing things differently and better, more efficiently.

THR: What was the easiest part of the experience and what was the hardest part of the experience of Tabatha Takes Over?

Bennett: Being criticized is definitely the hardest part, being called wrong or lazy. That’s tough. Nobody wants to hear that. The easiest part? The results. I didn’t even realize, for instance, that the rooms needed to be redecorated and freshened up. It never occurred to me that Tabatha would see that as a necessity. Then when they did the redo on my rooms I was shocked, because I saw that they really weren’t OK. They didn’t look fresh, they didn’t look interesting, beautiful. She accomplished all that. She had a fresh eye.

THR: ¿Cuál fue la parte más fácil de la experiencia y lo que era la parte más difícil de la experiencia de Tabatha Takes Over?

Tabatha's Salon Takeover T2 "Plush salon"

Kimmie wasn’t a bad person, she just had no idea how to run a business. I was gobsmacked when Kimmie told me that despite all her financial troubles she took all her money to go shopping .You have to reinvest in your business! I needed to give Kimmie a wakeup call. Kimmie, like many others, thought that if you opened a place, hired a few friends, made it cute (and I use that term lightly) and worked a couple days here and there that all would be fine. She thought everyone else would make money for you and it would be fun, and life would be just dandy. Well, that clearly wasn’t working.

Kimmie no era una mala persona, ella no tenía idea de cómo dirigir un negocio. Me quedé atónita cuando Kimmie me dijo que a pesar de todos sus problemas financieros se tomó todo su dinero para ir de compras. Usted tiene que reinvertir en su negocio! Necesitaba dar Kimmie una llamada de atención. Kimmie, como muchos otros, cree que si se abre un lugar, contrató a unos pocos amigos, hizo lindo (y utilizo ese término a la ligera) y trabajó un par de días aquí y allá, que todo estaría bien. Kimmie had a total lack of control of her staff, her business, herself and her shopping addiction. The fact that Kimmie thought it was OK to spend all the money she made behind the chair on buying things really disturbed me. I also couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Lindsey laying on the sofa at the reception area most of the day. She actually wouldn’t even move for clients. She ignored the phone, and Kimmie didn’t seem perturbed at all.

Kimmie había una total falta de control de su personal, su negocio, ella y su adicción a las compras. El hecho de que Kimmie pareció que estaba bien de gastar todo el dinero que hace detrás de la silla en la compra de las cosas que realmente me molestó. The entire staff had fallen into lazy, unprofessional behavior where it seemed THEIR comfort was more important than the clients and it showed in a dirty salon and sloppy work. It was like a sorority of girls hanging out and Kimmie was the ringleader. When I met with Ardeen and Kimmie I was totally shocked to hear that their savings had been used to keep the salon afloat and that he let his insurance lapse as well as racking up all that debt on credit cards and his wife had no idea, she wasn’t pulling her financial weight. It was a shock for Ardeen to hear his wife was taking all the money and spending it, but by them both being honest about the situation I think it really helped them. I felt that by Kimmie donating some of her things and the staff working with the women at the shelter it would help them not only bond as a team but show them all how self indulgent and lazy they had become. It was such a wonderful experience to help these women. Not only feel good about themselves but to get them prepared to go on interviews, and it really helped boost their self esteem and the stories they shared were inspiring. The staff did a great job and I think they were all truly humbled by the experience.

Todo el personal había caído en el comportamiento perezoso, poco profesional en el que parecía su comodidad es más importante que los clientes y lo demostró en un salón sucio y mal trabajo. Era como una hermandad de chicas que cuelgan hacia fuera y Kimmie era el cabecilla. Cuando me reuní con Ardeen y Kimmie Me quedé totalmente sorprendida al saber que sus ahorros habían sido utilizados para mantener a flote el salón y que dejó que su lapso de seguros, así como acumular toda esa deuda en tarjetas de crédito y su esposa no tenía idea, no estaba tirando de su peso financiero. Fue un shock para Ardeen oír su esposa estaba teniendo todo el dinero y gastarlo, sino por los dos siendo honesto acerca de la situación que yo creo que realmente les ayudó. Sentí que por Kimmie donar algunas de sus cosas y el personal trabajando con las mujeres en el refugio que les ayudará no sólo fianza como un equipo, pero todos ellos muestran cómo la auto indulgente y perezoso que se había convertido. Fue una experiencia maravillosa para ayudar a estas mujeres. El personal hizo un gran trabajo y creo que todos eran verdaderamente humillado por la experiencia.

I was really pleased with the salon on reopening day the place had been detackyed and actually looked Plush and the staff were working well except for Lindsey and it was clear she needed more training and wasn’t interested in her job at all. When the hot wax spilled all over the client I couldn’t believe Lindsey was more concerned with her shoe, and when the client was burnt I used milk, as it was the only thing available at the time to soothe the area. Again Lindsey wasn’t phazed, but Kimmie really stepped up. I felt that it was a learning experience for all at Plush the week I was there, Kimmie is much more responsible and knows she needs to curb her spending and give her time money and energy to the salon. I am glad she let Lindsey go because she didn’t step up and I think Krissi realized that taking a step back as a stylist was needed to help her work and take some pressure of her and to give the client the work they were paying for. I wish them all well.

Yo estaba muy contenta con la reapertura del salon todo el personal se habia puesto las pilas excepto Lindsey que estaba claro que necesitaba muchas mas clases de entrenamiento y que no estaba centrada en su trabajo por completo ya que se preocupaba mas por ella que no por su cliente a la cual el dia de reapertura tuvo un pequeño accidente con la cera caliente que se derramo sobre su clienta y Lindsey estaba mas afectada por que se le quedaba pegada en el suelo en vez de preocuparse por el estado de su cliente. Por segundo lugar quemo a su clienta al hacerle las cejas con la cera, la cual tuve que aliviar el dolor con leche . Kimmie se sintio avergonzada y comenzo a entender todo lo que yo le habia estado diciendo durante la semana que tome el control del salon. Kimmie resulto ser mucho mas responsable de lo que creia que podia ser, sabe que tienia que poner freno a sus gastos y a sus empleadas e invertir en su negocio. Me alegro saber que Kimmie despidio a Lindsey ya que no se tomo en serio mi estancia en el salon y sobretodo por Kimmie ya que eso significaba que daba un paso adelante en vez de ir otra vez hacia atras. Les deseo todo lo mejor

I can understand that bothers to criticize the way you work and questioning the professionalism of each .... but you can do two things. 1 - accept criticism as constructive criticism to help you improve your work or 2 - ignore what you say and take it as a personal affront. The question is who is this critical? if from someone who has no idea what he is saying or as in this case someone like Tabatha

Puedo entender que molesta mucho que critiquen tu forma de trabajar y cuestionen la profesionalidad de cada uno.... pero puedes hacer dos cosas. 1- aceptar la critica como una critica constructiva que te ayude a mejorar en tu trabajo o 2- ignorar lo que te dicen y tomarlo como una ofensa personal. La cuestion es de quien viene esa critica? si es procedente de alguien que no tiene idea de lo que esta diciendo o como es en este caso alguien como Tabatha

Tabatha Coffey Picks Her Five Favorite Star Looks of 2012

We’ve enjoyed hearing Bravo star Tabatha Coffey’s take on star styles this year — and don’t worry, she’s coming back for more in 2013! But she recently took time out of her busy shooting schedule to critique the best in star style this year, and we have to say, she made some very solid picks. Read on to find out who earned top honors!

How can I sum up 2012? It was a very, very colorful year for fashion, to say the least. We saw vibrant shades of red, tangerine and yellow, and soft pastels like robin’s egg blue and dusty lilac. It was refreshing to see a broader spectrum this year since in past drab neutrals have made starlets and musicians appear washed out and aged beyond their years.

 ¿Cómo se puede resumir el 2012? Fue un año muy, muy colorido por la moda, por decir lo menos. Vimos vibrantes tonos de rojo, amarillo y mandarina y pasteles suaves como el huevo de petirrojo azul y lila polvoriento. Hair consisted of unpretentiously styled updos, whimsical braids, topknots and classic old Hollywood-esque chignons. Makeup was clean and fresh; less smoky eyes, more natural and effortless. It was a year to control the overall look and not let the overall look control you. With that said, here are my five favorite red carpet looks for 2012

Cabello consistió en updos estilo sin pretensiones, trenzas, moños y caprichosas clásicos moños viejos Hollywood-esque. 1. Emma Stone. Undeniably my all-time favorite look for 2012; Emma looks absolutely ravishing in red at the Oscars. This is the epitome of old Hollywood glamour. The length, draping and striking color of this Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown is perfection. Most importantly, her hair is styled exactly as it should be. When you have a collar like this, the hair needs to be up and off the shoulders. What you can’t see in this image is how beautiful the hair is pulled back into a twisted chignon. The accessories have the right amount of bling and I’m in love with this Louis Vuitton clutch.

1. Emma Stone. Sin lugar a dudas mi todos los tiempos look favorito para el 2012, Emma se ve absolutamente encantadora en rojo en los Oscar. Este es el epítome del viejo glamour de Hollywood. La longitud, drapeado y golpeando color de este Giambattista Valli vestido de Alta Costura es la perfección. Lo más importante, su pelo es de estilo exactamente como debería ser. 2. Michelle Williams. I adore this Oscars look for several reasons. 1: Michelle‘s hair color and pixie cut are her namesake. She is a modern-day Twiggy and has the perfect complexion to accompany this hair color. 2: Her complexion also pairs well with the color of this Louis Vuitton gown. 3: The peplum detail and brooch at the waistline are an excellent amount of detail and just the right amount of whimsy. 4: Makeup is natural; cheeks rosy, lips striking. 5: Someone buy me that choker for my birthday next year. Thanks.

2. Michelle Williams. Adoro este Oscars mirar por varias razones. 1: color del pelo y de Michelle corte pixie es su nombre. 3. Octavia Spencer. Octavia, Octavia, Octavia, you are s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g! From head to toe, this is Oscars red carpet excellence. Love the deep part and classic styling of your hair and your perfectly lined and filled brows. What I love about this brow shape is how it really makes your eyes “pop” and shine. Your gown is breathtaking; beading is not exaggerated and the way it gathers at the center is quite becoming and flattering. You are a 10 in my book.

3. Octavia Spencer. Octavia, Octavia, Octavia, que son impresionantes! De la cabeza a los pies, esto es Oscars excelencia alfombra roja. This aqua frock of hers from the Emmys is divine. She looks like a goddess! Her hair is picture-perfect and wearing it down with this neckline is spot on. Accessories are simple, makeup is clean and fresh.

 4. Heidi Klum. Aparte de ese horrendo conjunto visto en MTV EMAs de este año, Heidi Klum es un rayo de sol rojo moda alfombra por lo general puede contar con ver. Este vestido aqua de ella a partir de los Emmy es divino. Ella se ve como una diosa! Su pelo es de ensueño y lo lleva hacia abajo con este escote es perfecto. 5. Tie: Ginnifer Goodwin & Padma Lakshmi. I like to call this the ‘Tangerine Tie for 2012.’ We all know that Pantone chose ‘Tangerine Tango’ as the color of the year for 2012, and it’s evident that celebs loved wearing it on the red carpet. I had a hard time choosing which lady wore it best at the Emmys so I’m calling it a tie — Ginnifer and Padma both looked stunning. They wore the color, the color didn’t wear them.

5. Lazo: Ginnifer Goodwin y Lakshmi Padma. Me gusta llamar a esto el "Tangerine Tie para el 2012." Todos sabemos que Pantone eligió 'Tangerine Tango' como el color del año para el año 2012, y es evidente que le encantaba llevar celebridades en la alfombra roja. So this is my last critique for 2012 and I must say I think Santa has me on the naughty list. Seeing this dress on Carey Mulligan is like getting coal in my stocking! I’m not impressed and actually quite disappointed. She usually looks exceptionally stylish and fashion-forward and I feel like this is something she pulled out of her great aunt’s closet.

Close your eyes and imagine it. I’m right, huh?! See, it’s a little beyond her years the way it is, but can be youthfully updated in no time.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – We love having fun in the sun, but ladies, let’s face it: The season can take a pretty harsh toll on our locks.

Hair guru Tabatha Coffey, the star and host of the hit reality series “Tabatha Takes Over,” stopped by The Couch to answer our trickiest hair questions.

One viewer pleaded: I wash my hair a lot in the summer and it’s getting so dry. Help!

“It’s something that everyone does,” Coffey said. “We’re outside more, we’re perspiring more, so we are washing our hair more. You need to use something that’s going to protect your hair. Use a shampoo that’s a little heavier than normal…something that’s more moisturizing, something with that has a protectant in there, especially if you have color. Make sure it’s gentle enough to be used every day.”

“It’s totally fine as long as you’re using the right product,” Coffey said. “If you’re using something that not taking the natural oils and moisture out of the hair, then it’s totally fine to wash it every day. Some people don’t need to and they can skip a day.”
