It was the irreverent and unedited evening everyone has come to expect from Stylist Choice Awards, as more than 50 presenters let their hair down for a few crazy hours. This year it was all about the PDA, from air kisses to make-out sessions to Deva Curl's Lorraine Massey's "full body" congratulatory hug for Mizani's Melka Davis. There was some serious business, too, including heartfelt comments from Vidal Sassoon and Ken Paves.

In a moving moment, Mary surprised the audience with a special taped “thank you” from Vidal Sassoon for the industry’s unprecedented efforts raising money for Hairdressers Unlocking Hope. (As of this month, more than $2 million has been raised for the campaign!) Tears were also at the ready when Mary presented a surprise HUH award to Ken Paves, honoring him for his work with numerous charities. Ken commented, "I have always hoped that one day I would stand for something as great as the award you have given me. I will try to show you how grateful I am by lending my hands and my heart anywhere that I think I could make a difference."

SCA winners included the new and the tried and true. Redken lead the night with four trophies, including the company’s 8th consecutive win for Favorite Overall Professional Products Company. The company also earned nods for Favorite Permanent and Demi-Permanent Color Lines and for All Soft Conditioner. PureOlogy and TIGI were also big winners with three trophies apiece. TIGI won for Favorite Prestige Styling Product with S-Factor Dream Drops, Favorite Make-Up with Bed Head Makeup and for Favorite Specialty Styling Product with Bed Head Manipulator. PureOlogy Hydrate accounted for all three of the company’s wins – Favorite Shampoo, Favorite Prestige Shampoo/Conditioner Line and Favorite Color Protecting Product. Farouk Systems dominated in the styling tools categories, winning for Favorite Blow Dryer and Favorite Flat Iron once again. New winners included Sexy Hair for Favorite Volumizing Product with Root Pump and Aquage for Favorite New Shampoo or Conditioner with SeaExtend Silkening.
